Miramar High School Celebrates Progress at Media Center

Miramar High School marked a significant moment with the unveiling of its transformed Media Center on September 28, 2023. The ribbon-cutting event was a moment of both celebration and reflection, commemorating not only the completion of an $870,000 renovation project, but a pivotal step in the school’s journey toward providing a more enriching educational environment.
The undertaking was the first phase of a broader $21 million renovation initiative that encompassed significant upgrades throughout the school. Among these were the addition of a new art room, band room, chorus room, and aviation lab, as well as roofing enhancements, HVAC and electrical upgrades, and improvements to fire alarm and sprinkler systems. The core of the transformation, however, lay in the Media Center itself, where new furniture, fresh paint, and plush carpeting breathed new life into the space. These enhancements signaled the school’s deep commitment to ensuring the safety, comfort, and learning experience of its students.
“This is a prime example of what every student deserves: state-of-the-art facilities, a state-of-the-art Media Center where they have the adequate resources so they can thrive and be the best,” said District 2 Board Member Torey Alston, who attended the event along with other distinguished guests, including Superintendent Dr. Peter Licata, City of Miramar Commissioner Yvette Colbourne, Chief of Staff Valerie Wanza, and Regional Superintendent Alan Strauss. Their presence underscored the importance of this project for the school and the broader community.
