Summer Construction Makes Way for a Fresh Start
Each summer, while classrooms go quiet and hallways empty out, the SMART Bond Program ramps up construction activity across Broward County Public Schools. It’s a vital time to make real progress, ensuring students and staff return to refreshed spaces that feel safe, functional, and ready for learning.
This year’s Summer Construction 2025 campaign brings meaningful upgrades to campuses throughout the district, including Monarch High School, Lauderdale Manors Elementary School, Atlantic Technical College & High School, and Nova Middle School.
At Monarch High School, crews tackle major roofing renovations to enhance building durability and safety. At Lauderdale Manors Elementary, new windows now brighten classrooms while improving energy efficiency. Atlantic Technical College & High School will receive an updated culinary lab that offers students real-world, hands-on learning experiences. And at Nova Middle School, a revamped band room will provide a more modern and inspiring space for music education.
These schools are just a few examples of the many SMART construction projects completed over the summer. Among other improvements across the district are new STEM lab building additions, HVAC upgrades, fire alarm installations, auditorium and ADA restroom renovations—each designed to support evolving educational needs and enhance everyday comfort.
By making the most of the summer break, the SMART Bond Program ensures that upgrades don’t interrupt learning. Instead, students return to spaces that feel new, energized, and designed to help them thrive.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building better schools and brighter futures.
