SMART In Action:
Building Better Learning Environments
From upgraded infrastructure and renovated facilities to brand-new buildings and new campus additions, Broward County Public Schools is transforming campuses across the District thanks to the SMART Bond Program.
These improvements go beyond aesthetics – they strengthen safety, enhance accessibility and create modern, engaging environments that support teaching and learning. Recent examples include a new STEM classroom building at McArthur High School that supports innovation and hands-on exploration; a new cafeteria building at Stranahan High School that provides students with a welcoming space to enjoy healthy meals, connect with peers and recharge; and a new classroom building and playcourt at Margate Elementary School that enhance the daily learning experience for students.
Other vital upgrades across the District include ADA-compliant restrooms, HVAC system replacements, re-roofing projects, new fire alarm and electrical systems, ceiling tile replacements, and updated windows, all of which contribute to daily comfort and support the long-term durability and energy efficiency of our facilities.
“As a parent with children enrolled in Broward County Public Schools and as a project manager overseeing multiple SMART Bond projects, I’m proud of the investments being made in our schools, which are creating greater opportunities for students,” said Imad Younes, project manager, AECOM.
With every completed project, the SMART Bond Program is turning blueprints into real-life improvements that elevate students’ educational experience — building not just better facilities, but better futures.
